How To Install Steam Games On A Second Hard Drive
Installing Games on Secondary Hard Drive
Surprisingly I couldn't find an reply posted in the sub... I'thou certain someone will link me to a page that has the respond merely at the take chances of getting downvoted to oblivion...:
My SSD is my main bulldoze where steam is installed, and its almost full. Is there a way to install new games on my secondary HDD despite steam being installed on the SSD? Or practise I have to keep uninstalling games from the SSD to make room for new ones...

Yes it is possible. In one case you have ii hard drives in your computer it should give you the pick to select which drive to install the game on. I have ii drives currently in my computer and steam games installed on both of them.

YES, in one case yous format your new drive, get to (when in steam) Steam tab> settings carte du jour> Downloads> from at that place y'all can employ Add together library binder to a new bulldoze. From the drop downwardly menu in the area select your new bulldoze (MAKE SURE You lot CREATED A FOLDER, and label information technology what you desire) and the specific binder and the file path is now complete! at present when you download NEW games, you can download and install to that binder. Also moving from a difficult drive that a game is currently installed on.... I have no clue :P

Just re-create the game files manually, and so uninstall the game and reinstall it in the new identify I approximate. Steam notices when files are already on the drive and doesn't download everything once again.

Works for me. Steam asks you where you desire each new game to be installed - just select the secondary and it'll make some other Steam folder on information technology.

I just exercise it this manner also. Have steam installed on my SDD and all my games installed on my HDD.

Search google for 'Steam Mover'. It's awesome. You can move games from one hard drive to another and all the same launch the games from Steam every bit if information technology's even so in the one-time location.
It'southward an old programme and it's merely build 0.ane, only information technology works perfectly.

On the topic of SSDs and Secondary HDDs, when your Os is installed on the SSD how do you terminate it getting filled with junk etc. is in that location whatever way to tell EVERYTHING to get to the secondary or a programme to clean SSDs?

Great question. I try to manually select my HDD whenever an install asks me where I desire to install something (unless its a program I need to kickoff up super fast). As well, I have my "downloads" binder in the HDD... even still my 128gb SSD is e'er about full :(.

Look in the download settings. There is an option to choose boosted download locations. You can't save changes when you are actively downloading something (tripped me upwardly once) merely you can save on multiple drives.
There is no in-Steam way to MOVE existing downloads to unlike locations I don't believe (other means to do that) but you can make it and so that you can choose which bulldoze games you download stuff onto. That'south what I do because my SSD is tiny and is only there to agree important stuff like DOTA2 and TF2.

thank you so much :) this must exist the nice and helpful side of reddit. I'yard used to getting eviscerated on r/dayz haha

I accept the same issue, one matter to note is you will always have to chose the second location when installing new games. There is no manner to alter the default steam install location. you'll take to select your secondary location every time.

I wish steam would allow me set my secondary equally default. When installing through In-Home Streaming it always installs it to my SSD.

You lot can merely install Steam on your HDD and forget about all the hassle. No need in SSD for games. Merely some rare games will actually benefit from that in terms of performance.

well i said in my post that I looked around and couldn't find anything. sorry to bother yous mr 10

Technically, the people who keep the geek squad in business wouldn't know to go to reddit, wouldn't think of asking the question, and wouldn't know what to practise with any answers in this thread.
